Welcome to our little paradise in nature!
I’m Michel, your host, and I’m delighted to share this special corner of the world with you. I’ve been living in the Yucatán Peninsula for over 20 years, during which I’ve developed a deep connection with nature, plants, and the incredible biodiversity around us. My greatest passion lies in farming and cultivation, especially jackfruit—my favorite fruit and the star of our tropical orchard.
The dome where you’ll be staying is particularly close to my heart, as I built it myself using the sustainable superadobe technique. My love for construction and architecture is reflected in every detail of its design, which harmonizes with the surrounding natural environment.
I am a biologist at heart and an industrial engineer by profession, fascinated by the symbiosis of nature and how everything is interconnected. I truly enjoy leading tours of the orchard and sharing my knowledge about regenerative agriculture, permaculture, and tropical plants. I’m sure you’ll enjoy exploring our orchard filled with jackfruit, mangoes, soursop, mamey, and many other species, while we chat about nature’s cycles and how we can live in harmony with it.
I hope your stay here is unforgettable, full of tranquility, learning, and connection with this unique environment. It will be my pleasure to welcome you and share this experience with you!
Solferino is a charming and picturesque town full of color, art, and traditions that make it truly unique. As you stroll through its streets, you’ll be amazed by the beautiful murals that decorate the town. These murals are the result of a community project where children, guided by a painting instructor, actively participate in creating these works of art. Even the benches in the central park are painted by them, adding vibrant life to this central gathering space.
One of the most impressive natural treasures in the town is the millenary ceiba tree, a majestic specimen nearly a thousand years old. Surrounding it, you’ll find an orchid garden where you can admire the stunning beauty of these flowers. Another highlight is El Corchal, a magical place where you can explore the jungle and enjoy a canoe ride through a lagoon surrounded by floating trees—an unforgettable experience.
For food and culture enthusiasts, Solferino offers delicious and unique options. Arte Café is a cozy spot where you can try jackfruit in a mole stew, accompanied by a refreshing drink made with jackfruit, pineapple, and passion fruit—a truly delightful combination. Another favorite is María Bonita, a restaurant specializing in seafood and local cuisine that will satisfy your cravings. At the entrance to the orchard, along the highway, you’ll find Carambola handicrafts, as well as various stalls offering cutting boards, spoons, and plates crafted from exotic tropical woods.
Another local gem is the artisanal gin distillery, where you can learn about the gin-making process and enjoy its unique flavors. And if you’re looking for an adventure beyond Solferino, the famous island of Holbox is just 15 km away. There, you can enjoy paradisiacal beaches, crystal-clear waters, and the serenity that only the Mexican Caribbean can offer.
Solferino is a destination filled with history, nature, and culture that invites discovery. You’ll love exploring its many charms!
