Blue House 9 Rooms and Breakfast is an accommodation located in a historic 16th-century building in Birgu. The original walls have been preserved in compliance with current regulations and the guidelines of the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Malta. For this reason, the original structure has not been altered, maintaining its historical and authentic beauty.
The Standard and Superior double rooms, for this reason, do not have traditional windows or balconies, but feature an original French door that serves as the entrance to the room and allows the passage of natural light and air. These doors open — for ground floor rooms — into an internal courtyard, and for first-floor rooms, into a typical Maltese balcony walkway adorned with flower pots and overlooking the same courtyard.
The Deluxe rooms, whether double or quadruple, are all equipped with balconies, windows, or the traditional Maltese “Gallarija” — a characteristic enclosed wooden balcony that opens onto one of the picturesque alleys of the village.
On the second floor of the building, there is a shared terrace accessible to all guests via the ancient Maltese staircase garigor or by elevator. On the terrace, you will find tables and chairs available, ideal for moments of relaxation.
The rooms are inside an historical House of Character in Birgu. Story of the building begins in 1550 when the Knights used this place to have a good time after long days of hospital service. You can still see the Auberges of France, Italy and Allemagne around this building, as well as the Hall of the Knights.
Later on, in 1934, a naval engineer came to live in this house. In fact, in the rooms you can still admire the original naval designs of the engineer, ancient maps, and historical documents.
Experience historical charm & comfort in our boutique private room with TV, AC, adorned with old unique Maltese tiles with all amenities.
24-hour self-check-in & continental breakfast.
