A rustic, private mountain cabin located at an elevation of 1,000 meters. Just 30 minutes from Ina IC and 25 minutes from Ogurogawa Smart IC. Nestled in the forest, it's a 25-minute drive from JR Ina City Station or Ina City Bus Terminal. Even in summer, the cool mountain air means there's no need for air conditioning. In the garden, you'll find a wood-fired sauna, a wood-fired bath, a stone oven, and a BBQ grill—offering a unique lifestyle experience centered around fire and natural living. There are no houses nearby, so there’s no light pollution—enjoy a sky full of stars at night. This is not a tourist spot, but a place where you can experience real rural living. Enjoy seasonal activities such as firewood chopping, foraging for wild vegetables and mushrooms, stream play, trekking, snow play, and snowshoeing. Within a 15-minute drive, you’ll also find high-quality day-use hot springs. This place is perfect for those who want to experience country or mountain living, for beginner campers, or for anyone curious about a fun yet simple life in the mountains. We recommend staying at least two nights to fully enjoy the experience. It’s also an ideal base for hiking in the Southern or Central Japanese Alps.
We moved here from Nagoya in 2009. I live in a self-built house, working with animals and tending to the fields and rice paddies, while running a small restaurant. I also produce and sell processed agricultural products.
Located in the southern part of Nagano Prefecture, the Niiyama area of Ina City is a beautiful satoyama (village surrounded by nature) with around 240 households. The clear waters of the Niiyama River run through rolling hills at elevations between 710 and 1,020 meters, creating a landscape that reflects the traditional, untouched beauty of rural Japan. To the east lies a golf course at the foot of the mountains, while from the summit of Mt. Takazuya (Takazuyasan) to the west, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Ina Valley, where the Tenryu River flows, framed by the Central and Southern Japanese Alps. There are no supermarkets or convenience stores nearby, so we recommend doing your shopping in advance. Nishizawa Takatō Shokusai-kan (local grocery store): approx. 15 minutes (5 km) 7-Eleven: approx. 15 minutes (5 km)
