The COSTA e MARE holiday home is located in a historic building known as "Palazzo dei Pavoni". It is a late nineteenth-century Art Nouveau building designed by the engineer architect Alessandro Martinengo, located in via Paleocapa, that is in the heart of the city, characterized by elegant and well-kept arcades that are an integral part of the building. The accommodation is very close to the maritime station (where splendid cruise ships depart and arrive almost daily), to the marina, to a series of trendy restaurants and bars, to every service, such as supermarkets, boutiques and shops of all kinds. Behind it is an important historic center full of architectural beauties and delightful cafes. The apartment that provides the guest with the necessary comfort and privacy has been completely renovated, furnished and air-conditioned in 2019. On our part, we are committed to guaranteeing guests a pleasant stay free from any boredom. Also for this reason we reserve, as a matter of practice and without the need for a specific request, for the desired period, the entire accommodation for the single guest, the couple, the group of friends or colleagues who book first.
Our guests are followed from the first contact, when we try and often manage to meet them, listening and fulfilling, where possible, every need. We like to nurture relationships and be friendly!
If possible we like to take beautiful walks and from our home in Savona you are spoiled for choice. From the nearby Torretta you can go to via Santa Lucia and from here uphill San Giacomo and then go to via Ranco, direct to the forest of the Nymphs, where you can admire nature and enjoy changing landscapes. Also from the Torretta, following the Aurelia, you can take the promenade, towards the east in the direction of Albissole, Celle, Varazze, or towards the west where you meet the Priamar fortress, which you can cross while enjoying its history and architecture, to reach the beginning of the extension to the sea, from here you follow the long pedestrian street that runs along the beach of Savona to go towards Vado and Bergeggi, to name the closest ones (the glorious Strada Statale 1 Aurelia starts from Rome and ends in France - where it becomes Route Nationale 7 and arrives at Lutetia Parisiorium, now Paris, in Place d'Italie.) But what's more, Savona is waiting to be discovered!
The first news about Savona dates back to the Second Punic War, III century BC, when the Carthaginian fleet was based there. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Savona became an important base of the Byzantine fleet and a brilliant commercial center.
These are only brief historical notes, far from exhaustive, but the architectural beauties that characterize it are nothing but sediments of its glorious history, starting from the nearby Priamar fortress built by the Genoese to exercise a ferocious control over the city. Taking a tour categorically on foot we cannot forget the next Brandale tower, also called Campanassa, the most important of the city towers.
Another place of absolute interest is the nearby Cathedral of the Assumption built in 1600 in Baroque style with the adjacent Sistine Chapel built by Pope Sixtus IV as a mausoleum for his parents. A stone's throw away we cannot forget the Torre Leon Pancaldo, known as the Tower, a medieval building, symbol of the city. It is also nice to see the Ceramics museum, Palazzo Gavotti, via Pia, piazzetta della Maddalena, the ancient Pozzo theater in via Quarda Superiore and much more ...
