Cave del Predil is famous for its splendid lake with clear waters, framed by a suggestive landscape. Furthermore, the lake (1 km by car from the accommodation) is the protagonist of a curious legend, according to which once there was a town where the lake now stands. According to the story, the town was flooded by the waters due to the cold and insensitive soul of the inhabitants who refused to host a woman and her child (the Madonna and baby Jesus), who eventually found shelter at the house of a kindhearted family. It is said that the remains of the small house on the islet of the lake are those of the only house that survived the flood that punished the inhabitants, that is the same one belonging to the family of the story, which was spared. In Cave del Predil it is also possible to visit the Polo Museale, which unites the Military History Museum of the Julian Alps with the International Geo-mining Park, created following the interruption of the mining activity to make it open to the museum of mining tradition, Miniera Lab , which combines the experience of visiting the mine with a documentary journey.
