My name is Om Bhati, I am the manager at Mala Ki Dhani - an authentic village guest house I built with my family in 2016. We have several private huts here for visitors with all facilities for guests to stay with us in our remote village 16 kilometers north of Jaisalmer.
We live simple, traditional village lives and we welcome all guests to join-in with our culture and connect with the people and our way of life in the desert.
I was born and raised in the Thar Desert and live with my wife and 4 children in our tiny village called Chimaram Ki Dhani (just 500 meters from Mala Ki Dhani).
Living in the desert is an interesting experience. It's both an incredible beautiful and incredibly harsh landscape at the same time, but our culture has found a way to thrive in this area.
It's my passion to share our way of life with travelers in an authentic way. I want to give the outside world the opportunity to see how we live, the food we eat, our customs, traditions, stories and families.
I hope all guests at Mala Ki Dhani are enriched by experiencing the authentic life in the desert and connecting with the heart of Rajasthani culture.

Welcome to Mala Ki Dhani, our tiny village 16km north of Jaisalmer in the great Thar Desert. We created Mala Ki Dhani to accommodate travelers seeking an authentic, non-touristic experience of rural Rajasthani life and an opportunity to connect with the incredible culture, people and landscapes of the Great Thar Desert region.
Mala Ki Dhani is built on remote village farmlands (3 kilometers from the nearest road!) and is the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with yourself and an authentic Indian cultural experience.
Stay in one of our four neat and tidy Private Huts, which can sleep up to 4 people. Or sleep under the endless stars on a simple outdoor bed - the same kind used by all the villagers.
Meet the children, visit the women and men at work in the village, see the local school, go on sight seeing day trips around the local area, swim in seasonal lakes, book a camel safari or just relax and enjoy peace and beauty of rural Rajasthan.
We recommend all guests begin their stay at Mala Ki Dhani by walking up Rocky Mountain to visit the Malan Bai temple, which watches over Mala Ki Dhani at all times and is a very special temple for all the local villagers.

The north side of Jaisalmer is much less explored by tourists than the west side and there are so many things to do and places to see.
On the north side, you get the feeling that time has stood still because we're still living our traditional lives in tiny, remote desert villages and tourism hasn't come here yet.
There are plenty of local sights to see around Mala Ki Dhani, including:
- Abandoned Maharaja Palace
- Several important temples and local places of worship
- Sand dunes
- Seasonal lakes
- Several remote and villages
You can also reach the famous Sam Sand dunes & Desert National Park within easy day-trips from Mala Ki Dhani.
By rickshaw or Jeep Mala Ki Dhani is only 20-30 minutes from Jaisalmer, so you can also visit all the sites in Jaisalmer as well while staying at Mala Ki Dhani including the Fort, Lake, markets and temples.
If you like getting off the beaten path, Mala Ki Dhani is the place to do it. In many places on the north side of Jaisalmer, you'll will feel like you're the first tourist to ever visit - and for this feeling alone, it's worth coming to Mala Ki Dhani.
