Congs the home to historian Sir William wilde, father of Playwright, novelist and poet, Oscar Wilde. Famed for being the location for John Fords Oscar winning Film The Quiet Man. Cong is also the home of the 5 star Ashford Castle, built by the Guinness Family, and well worth a visit. Theres lots of beauty and history in our wonderful magical village, Cong Abbey, The Cross Of Cong, The Monks Fishing House, The Guiness Tower, The Pigeon Hole Cave, kellys Cave, The Stone Circles and Inchagoill. Cong offers great fishing and shooting seasonally, visit the Activity Centre at Ashford for Clay pigeon shooting, horse riding and archery or the school of falconry is also a big hit with vistitors.
