You can even catch a meteor shower between July and August. Situated just a few steps from the town Pjaca (main square, pronounced Piaza, same as in italian), you can enjoy the beaches within walking distance: City beach (pebbles/ramp for easy access) has been recently renovated, equipped with public showers and a café on site; Mina, a sand beach with old pine trees on terraces, providing the perfect combination of shade and sun is ideal for families with small children who like to build sand castles and learn how to swim; there are two bars/restaurants in the near vicinity. Vitarnja beach, on the other side of town offers a stunning view of Jelsa as well as easy access to the sea and bars to freshen up in. There is lots to discover in and around Jelsa, so if you wish to explore, you can rent a bike, boat or scooter locally.
