It's hard to resist the stunning sunsets every night and Crete is a great place for photography, it's plentiful archaeological sites, walking and sight-seeing as well as the amazing beaches. We love touring round - within 15 minutes you can be up in the mountains and the villa is ideally placed with easy access to the beautiful Venetian towns of Chania and Rethymnon, where spending time there is an absolute joy. Of course Crete is famous for its food and we split our time between BBQ's on the terrace and visiting the many local tavernas. We have provided a BOSE Bluetooth speaker for guests to use so we'd definitely recommend a nice meal on the terrace and some gentle music as you watch the sun set and stars come out. And of course having the infinity pool means time for exercise, play, pure relaxation and evening swims under the stars.
Kokkino Chorio is famous for its sunsets & its very hard to resist watching those most nights. In the village itself there is a small but amazingly well stocked general store where you can get fresh bread every day except Sunday. It's about a 10 minute walk , with views across the Bay and wild flowers plentiful. a sheer joy. There is a new (2017) Kafenion in the village, a taverna and a famous Glass Factory making delightful items from re-cycled glass - this also has a lovely restaurant. Just under 5 minutes drive into Plaka takes you to more stores, 5 restaurants and several small bars - it's a lively and fun place in the evenings. Another 2 minutes drive takes you down into Almyrida set on a picturesque bay with its beautiful beaches, very safe swimming, great tavernas, small cafes, and a couple of bars right on the waters edge. Here there is a wide selection of water sports from wind-surfing, sailing and kayaking to diving & pedalos. In the small centre are 2 family run hotels which often have night time entertainment.
There are countless opportunities for local walks..short and long, with pretty villages in close proximity.
