Enjoy the silence! In the midst of the village centre of Makrades is a tastefully furnished cottage for 2 adults and 2 kids which can be rented . Sit on the spacious rooftop terrace with fantastic panoramic views of the mountain range in the north and overlook the tranquil village. Makrades is located in the north west of the island of Corfu. The city of Kerkyra can be reached within 45 minutes by car, and the bay of Agios Georgios (Pagi), with its wonderful beach is located around 15 minutes away by car. At the village cross there are several hiking trails and taverns offer refreshments. The house has two levels. On the lower level is the kitchen, dining and living room, toilet, pantry and log burner. On the upper floor you have a double bed, a sitting area, an open bathroom and the spacious roof terrace. Two kids (up to 12 yrs.) can sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. Solar panels on the roof to heat the water, air conditioning for the summer and a log burner for cooler evenings in autumn or winter for your convenience. In the house there was an old mill, which I have renovated in recent years with strong support from local carpenters and trades.

My name is Anne and I travelled in the year 2000 for the first time to Corfu - and many times since then. But it took me until 2011 till my dream came true: I moved to the green island. After spending the first years in Spiti Anne, the house which is now for rent, I currently live in Spiti Tichi, another object which I've renovated together with local carpenters and craftsmen. Here, my gardencafé is situated, too.

The small village of Makrades lies at the foot of the mountain chain and is surrounded by olive groves. The church „Saint Pantocrator“ is the center of the village. Both, the Easter celebrations as well as the traditional summer festivity in August take place at the neighborouring parking space . The post office with its enclosed shop is the most important communication spot of the village. Here, news are exchanged on a daily basis – even on Sundays. Another location for communication, a little offside of the centre and nestled in the middle of olive groves, is my little garden café „Spiti Tichi“. The café borders the „Corfu Trail“, the famous, 220 km long trek, which spans Corfu from the North to the South. Moreover, you can directly hike from the beach of Agios Georgios to Makrades following an old Roman trek which offers stunning views over the bay. Ask me for details!
