Aetovigli (The Eagles' Perch) is a fully equipped stone house located at the village Finiki (between Methoni and Finikunda) on the top of a hill. It offers a spectacular view of the sea and the islands, as well as the valley and the mountains. It's a quiet and peaceful place that can accommodate up to 5 guests.
Aetovigli is a house built of stone the traditional way and has many windows on every side. So, hot greek summer won't be a problem. The decoration of the house is inspired from the old houses and monasteries of Messenia and Lakonia and includes old and unique pieces of furniture and art. The view and the peaceful environment is remarkable. If you are looking for a quiet place away from the crowds (very close to great beaches though) Aetovigli is the best choice. Just relax at the veranda or between the olive trees and look down upon the fields, the vast blue sea, the delicate islands, just like an eagle...
Guests besides Aetovigli house have free access to the rest of the hill (it's a big place). Feel free to use our bicycles, come with us to the kitchen garden, use the wood oven, join the local hiking team. Experience rural life...
I live in Athens, where I work as a classical guitar teacher and Greek language copy editor. Finiki is the birth land of my mother, and my parents live there all year round. My father George is a retired teacher and children's book author, and my mother Athanasia is a farmer.
We are friendly and open-hearted people with a alternative philosophy about hosting. Meeting new people and introducing our home to them makes us happy. Of course we highly appreciate quietness and privacy.
South-west Messenia: blessed land. Olive trees that reach the sea, castles above crystal waters (Methoni, Koroni, Pylos), history, some of the greatest beaches of Greece (Voidokoilia, Lampes, Agia Triada), unique natural beauty, hiking trails, fresh sea food, tradition, stone houses with roof tiles, high level tourist facilities. And of course, sun!
Finiki is village between Methoni and Foinikounda at Messenia region. During your stay at Aetovigli you can visit the impressive 13th century castle of Methoni, one of the largest and well preserved castles in the Mediterranean, and travel through history, or just enjoy the sun at a traditional taverna while you're eating fresh fish and drinking ouzo by the sea at Finikunda (between the swimming and sunbathing at many different crystal water beaches). For the most adventurous guests, you can join a hiking day at the island of Sapientza (the island with the light house that you can see from Aetovigli). Or you can just indulge in the clear, peaceful view from the house.
