Set in an 18th-century coaching inn, The Anchor Inn offers free Wi-Fi, home-cooked food and luxury rooms with scenic views. The inn is situated in Whittonstall, on the border of Northumberland and Durham. The elegant bedrooms each have a marble bathroom with fluffy robes, a power shower and hair straighteners. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV and tea/coffee facilities with mineral water. The Anchor Inn restaurant serves classic British cuisine using locally sourced ingredients. There are 2 cosy bars with exposed beams and stone walls, and hearty cooked breakfasts are available daily. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, The Anchor is a 30-minute drive from Newcastle Upon Tyne. There is free on-site parking, and Northumberland National Park is within a 25-minute drive.
