Step back in time for a unique, tranquil getaway. A well presented heritage farmhouse that is loved so much, it had to be shared. The farmhouse dates back to the 16th century when it was once a milking parlor. Now with a grade II listing this quirky home has been described as the house of 'Alice in Wonderland.' As you will expect from an old house, there are some low beams and steps to navigate. Two bedrooms are upstairs with one toilet and the third bedroom is on the ground floor where the bathroom is located. Guests have full access to the farmhouse and grounds. The barns and stables are currently not accessible to guests and are home to two outside rescue cats, Callie and Hector. If you have children please be aware of an area to the rear of the house where a natural swimming pond is in progress, but hidden by trees and there is also a well in the back garden area as well. The farmhouse is located on a 10acre estate with a private riverside walk and weeping willows - it is an ideal getaway for a calm and restorative break away in the English countryside.
Joanne and her husband Stuart look forward to welcoming you to Bridge Farm. After friends and family visited, it was clear that the house was loved so much it needed to be shared with others. If you enjoy nature and experiencing a piece of history then you should enjoy a stay at Bridge Farm. If arrival times align Joanne or Stuart will be at the farmhouse to greet you on arrival, they also attend the grounds some mornings to water the kitchen garden and feed the rescue cats that live in the stables and barns. If you have any questions please ask, otherwise they look forward to welcoming you and hope you enjoy your stay.
Located in the village of Nounsley you can walk to the local farm shop or pub. You will have direct access to a public footpath for beautiful countryside walks or you can retreat away from it all by staying home for a riverside stroll and games in the grounds during the day, before star gazing and sitting by an open fire at night. There are various local pubs to enjoy including: The Cross Keys, for delicious, relaxed food, sport and a welcoming local vibe. William Boosey for fabulous fish, The Wheatsheaf for excellent food and a warm welcome and the Blue Strawberry Bistrot for a special treat. If you are looking for local activities you can try Trifarm for open water swimming, Oakford Farm Fishery is opposite the farmhouse with 3 coarse fishing lakes, ideal for competitions or day tickets but book in advance. Paper Mill Lock Tearooms provide another riverside walk, boat and canoe hire, perfect spot for a picnic, dipping or paddleboarding. Chelmsford City has an array of activities from the Chelmer park runs, Chelmsford Cathedral, Oaklands Park or the Turner Art Perspective gallery for art enthusiasts. Or a short drive away you will find Hylands Park, Maldon Promenade Park and Danbury Common - ideal for off road biking!
