The cottage is a 16th Century building that once was a wash house with the house in front and the house on the left was a stable. It is now a beautiful cottage which has been renovated to a high standard. The walls are not straight, the beams are from Viking Ships and there are very unique artefacts in the house from travels.
Oronsay has been delightfully refurbished, blending modern design with the irreplaceable charm of old exposed beams, pretty latched doors and traditional fireplaces. Cosy nights can be spent dining in front of the open fire or alfresco in the garden.
I'm a graphic designer and love art, design and nature so being in the Lakes where I grew up at Oronsay has inspired me. I love walking, meeting people, cinema and my dogs and cats. I renovated and redid all the rooms in 2014 and am constantly looking for new ideas.
The village is idyllic, with a tarn, pretty houses, a stones throw away from the Market town of Ulverston (Birth Place of Stan Laurel) and Sir John Barrows monument.
The people are so friendly. We have a local pub, the General Burgoyne which has a lovely history they have a live band on, food is great and you can have a good 'crack' with the locals.
