St Curigs Church, Capel Curig, offers four stylishly designed, comfortably sized, en-suite rooms, two with hand-carved four-poster beds and two twin rooms which can be made into doubles. The property also has two other double rooms with a shared bathroom. We also have a couple of trundle beds that can go in any room. There is a fantastic seating area downstairs with a grand piano, pool table, table tennis, three sofas and wood burner. The property has a 3/4 acre walled garden.
I bought the church twenty five years ago and have been welcoming guests ever since. I can provide you with plenty of information about the wonderful hikes, hidden lakes, best restaurants, music nights and fun activities to make your stay extra special. The conversion story of the church was a rollercoaster ride through planning regulations, builders and love affairs that was documented in my fortnightly Sunday Times column between 2003 and 2006. I live next door with my partner Steve in Vestry Cottage and we love sharing the church with our guests. We will meet you on arrival, cook breakfast if wanted and will be on hand if you need anything or have any questions! We want you to have a wonderful stay.
Snowdonia is full of amazing things to do so let us know if you’d like any help with activities. Our favorites are the Go Below caving challenge which is a full and incredibly exhilarating day. The fastest zip wire in the world is only about 6 miles away and can be booked through Zip World (make sure it’s the one near us). Another great attraction is Adventure Park Snowdonia and also Bounce Below which has huge trampolines inside underground caverns. We also have climbing, hiking, fishing, kayaking, horse riding, canyoning etc…. If any of these things sound interesting then let us know and we will send links to the right websites. Plas y Brenin is only about 200 meters away and they do taster days which include kayaking, climbing and either skiing or mountain biking. If you want to climb mountains then we have maps and route descriptions.
