Each room at Hillsdale has been lovingly and individually styled - as the B&B has been created from an original Lakeland Stone townhouse, so typical of Ambleside. No room is the same shape or size. We hope that each one is as comfortable, attractive and pleasing as the next. There are lots of little finishing touches and decorative details which add a certain charm to a stay at Hillsdale.Recently refurbished and new carpets throughout, the property is modern, light and tastefully finished. Please note the check in time for Hillsdale is between 3pm and 7pm. Please be sure to be able to meet these times prior to booking. If unsure please contact us to discuss.

Steve and Caz have been Hotel Managers for many years and have worked predominantly in 4 and 5 star properties all over the country. As a result, they have great hosting skills and have the ability to make your stay as special as it should be. Their attention to detail is outstanding and going the 'extra mile' is normal. Together with their local knowledge and heaps of advice on the best walks, eateries and things to do, you are guaranteed to make the very most of your time in the Southern part of the English Lake District.

Ambleside is a bustling market town in the very heart of the English Lake District, Wainwright's Walking Country. The beautiful lakeland mountains offer strenuous hikes or more gentle strolls, all of which surround the town. Fantastic waterfalls are only a 10 minute walk away and well worth the stroll through the woods. With some 44 eateries from small cafes to the finest restaurants and gastro pubs, guests are spoiled for choice when it comes to relaxing after a busy day out. The beautiful waters of Windermere, Rydal and Grasmere are within easy walking distance as are the historic homes of Wordsworth, Ruskin and Beatrix Potter. Artisan shops, two pretty parks, one with pitch and putt, a tennis court and bowling green are right on the doorstep. Guests are never short of something to do or somewhere to go.
