Set in a quiet lane, surrounded by trees, yet only 2 minutes drive from the A1. The Garden Apartment is a self-contained unit behind our home. Compact but safe, quiet and clean.
We are only 2 miles from the centre of the market town of Morpeth. Taxis down into Morpeth take 5 minutes. It's possible to walk into Morpeth in around 40 minutes. There are well-lit footpaths all the way. Morpeth has an abundance of good restaurants, coffee shops, bars - including a late bar and shops.
We provide tea, coffee, fresh milk, sugar and chilled Northumbrian tap water.
We can also include breakfast items such as freshly baked bread, cereal, orange juice, fruit and yoghurts, at an extra cost. An ideal base for day-trips out to the rest of Northumberland and the North-East. We have plenty of free, onsite parking. All bedding, towels and dishcloths are provided, as is washing up liquid and shower gel. We cannot accommodate children nor animals.
April works in a garden centre in Morpeth. Allan is a newly-retired PE teacher. We have been married for 19 years and have lived in our home here for 18 years.
One of us should be around to welcome you and give you a key, if not there's a lockbox and we send out the info about that and your parking space the day before you arrive.
It is an easy, downhill walk into Morpeth, around 2 miles. There are a number of good restaurants and a list is provided on your welcome sheet. If you are going out for dinner you can park in town overnight and get a taxi back. All parking is free in Morpeth with the parking disc that we provide for you. There is a Wednesday market. On the first Saturday and Sunday of the month there is a farmers market. There is a brand-new leisure centre with swimming pool and spa facilities. There are lots of lovely walks along the river. There is a large Antique verve in the old gaol. Morpeth castle still stands in a hill above the town and is open for visitors occasionally. You can also visit and climb the clock tower. There is a bagpipe museum. The railway station is in Morpeth and takes you north to Edinburgh in 75 minutes or south to Newcastle in 15 minutes. Trains are every hour. The buses run every 30 minutes in to Newcastle. From Newcastle you can jump onto the Metro and visit the coast or cross the River Tyne and visit South Shields.
