Information on what's available, great places to visit ,eat, walk, bike or horse ride as well as shopping and charging point access is all available in a folder with extra info leaflets provided to take with you. You have your own private parking which leads down some steps through a garden arch of Clematis and Honey Suckle into your own garden. From your Hut there are views across the fields, often with our Sheep or Pygmy Goats in, weather dependant on the goats, they hate wet feet!! The bathroom and kitchen are separate but only a few steps away. A Picnic table, Sun loungers and a firepit are in your garden as well as a bird feeder where you can often enjoy watching the Woodpeckers and Nuthatch. As your hosts we are generally about feeding animals on the surrounding Smallholding or doing some jobs, and you are more than welcome to walk over to see us, {or call at the house for any questions} to see our pigs, goats, chickens or dogs. often we have piglets or kid goats. We cant wait to meet you!! Christine and Steve
From working many years as a front-line paramedic in the southeast, a change in pace and lifestyle was an attractive option. My interests are now mainly on the small holding I share with my partner Steve, who is a brilliant carpenter, builder or whatever needs doing he can turn his hand to it. We have our own small flock of sheep, lambing is early April for anyone who is interested in helping out. We breed our own pigs, which are Oxford and Sandy Blacks. Our next litter is due on the mid July 2025.
A dozen chickens and Pygmy goats who are very cheeky and love lots of attention.
We are in a Dark Skies area, there are events running through October and November including walks and talks of the area. We are within the Exmoor Park, so beautiful scenery and walks are here. We are based close to Wimbleball Lake, literally a short walk to the Dam and Lake and the Sailing club, Kayaking SUP, fishing, and high rope climbing area. We have a great local store which is run by volunteers. It's only a five minute drive away. Dulverton is our nearest town, offering some great places to eat including Woods, The Copper Kettle, The Lion, and a Tai restaurant. The CO-OP is open every day until 11pm. Lots of local history. Dunster Castle and Dunster beaches, Blue Anchor has a fab cafe and beach walks. Bampton, 20 minutes away is a lovely village, including a beautiful gift shop called Number 4, which is stocked with all local crafts.
