We are family run and love our local area and will provide you a hearty Yorkshire breakfast. We know the local area well and are happy to suggest things for guests to do during your stay. The house enjoys the privacy offered by an entrance, conservatory and hallways solely for guest use but our visitors are welcome to walk in the fields and woodland or try coarse fishing in the lake. Our animals (sheep, hens & pets) are always happy to see guests.

Elmfield House Bed and Breakfast enjoys a tranquil setting in the delightful Yorkshire Dales, nestled conveniently between the market towns of Bedale, Richmond and Leyburn. Set in 24 acres of paddocks, woodland and a nature pond we attracts a wonderful array of wildlife including wild ducks, geese, heron, kingfisher, pheasants, owls, kestrels, deer and foxes to name just a few. Living happily alongside these residents are a mixed flock of pedigree Ryeland and North of England Mule sheep.
The house enjoys the privacy offered by an entrance, conservatory and hallways solely for guest use but our visitors are welcome to walk in the fields and woodland or try coarse fishing in the lake. The a large conservatory with a recently installed log burner offers the perfect place to relax or socialise for larger groups. You will be welcomed with tea and home-made cake and are free to walk in the woodland and through the fields.

Despite our tranquil setting we are close to the A1 and A66. We are within easy reach of both the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks. Locally, you can enjoy the breweries in Masham, Betty’s teashop in Northallerton, the Wensleydale Creamery and Brymore ice-cream parlour. Thorp Perrow Arboretum and Bird of Prey Centre, Constable Burton gardens and Studley Royal deer park offer a more outdoors experience. Explore local history at Bolton, Richmond or Richard III’s Middleham Castle, the Green Howard’s Museum and the World of James Herriot. Ride the Wensleydale Railway, visit Richmond’s Georgian Theatre Royal or views Turner painted. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy the races at Catterick, Ripon and Thirsk, the gallops at Middleham and golf at Catterick, Richmond, Akebar and Bedale.
