Convalmore House is a traditional cosy detached home built in the 1890's, and was once the home of the Exciseman of the old Convalmore Distillery. It is very spacious with 4 large bedrooms, livingroom, kitchen and dining room. There are two main bathrooms and a separate toilet on the ground floor, a large private garden as well as a secure private car park. Perfect location for visiting the famous distilleries in the Speyside area, including Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Aberlour and Macallan. The property is situated on the Speyside way walking route, an old railway line that used to service the local town and distilleries, used for distributing Scottish whisky. A short walk along this route are the ramparts of 13th Century Balvenie Castle, once a home to the Stewarts. It was last occupied in 1746, and has played host to King Edward I of England and Mary, Queen of Scots. The Cairngorms National Park is within 50 minutes of the house with many outdoor activities to choose from. It is a mecca for outdoors people with all sorts of sporting activities on offer, on the mountain, down in the valley, on the golf course or on your bike, there is something for everyone.
Situated on the banks of the rivers Fiddich and Dullan Dufftown is a thriving village in the heart of Speyside with a population of 1,667. The town is famous for its malt whisky exports; the town boasts the biggest malt whisky exports of any town in Scotland and known as the whisky capital of the world. Convalmore House is a traditional Scottish house, and built in the 1890’s, it was once the home of the Exciseman of the old Convalore Distillery (closed in 1985), and is a very short walking distance from the famous Glenfiddich and Balvenie distilleries, and a short 10 minute drive to the newly opened Macallan distillery. It is also a 6 minute drive from the Speyside Cooperage, home of the ancient art of coopering since 1947 (a Five Star Award winning exhibition). Dufftown hosts a number of annual events, such as the Dufftown Highland Games (Last Saturday in July since 1892), the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival (Wednesday 1st - Monday 6th May 2019), Autumn Speyside Whisky Festival (Last full Weekend in September), Hogmanay Ceilidh (New Years Eve), and The William Grant Glenfiddich Festival Experiment (September), all of which are conveniently located to the house.
