I would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves, we are John & Karen Fisher and are proud to be the family owners of 1, The Mews. We have now been married for over 37 years and lived locally in Borrowash for most of that time, with our three grown up children. I was made redundant from a life long engineering career, and Karen has recently left a dedicated career of being a house mother to over-seas students at the local Ockbrook private school, and we both wanted to take this opportunity to pursue a very different business venture. I spent years travelling as a service engineer, within the UK and abroad, and know what it is like staying in hotels for many nights on end. Over the years we have also made friends with the families of the over-seas students whilst visiting Derby, and we have been the UK guardians for many students during the last 12 years. Our experience has shown that there are many different reasons why people visit and stay in Derby, and we felt that a different approach to offering a place to stay may be appreciated, so we wanted to bring the Mews bungalow to the general public, and give a unique service with a different meaning.

We are located 6 minutes from the M1 motorway directly off the A52, making access very easy & away from any city congestion. We are perfectly based for visits into Derby or Nottingham, and the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District is only a 30 mins drive away. Within walking distance you can find Elvaston Castle country park, river walks, cycle paths, fishing lake, & a golf driving range is nearly next door. Get in the car and the choices are too many to mention, less than 1 hour gets you to Chatsworth House one of the UK's most visited historic houses.
