Come and experience the France of ancient villages, Cathar castles and rural life as it used to be, staying in a century old village and home with 20th century decor. We are located in the center of the village of Coustaussa. You will experience clean country air, mountain streams, hiking paths, beautiful alpine scenery, fountain water and an abundance of native forests, fields, flora and fauna. Come to the peaceful, rural village of Coustaussa to escape the hectic city life.
`We are passionate about gardening and local history. We speak French, English and some Spanish.
Our two bedroom house is situated in a village nestled close to the beautiful Pyrenees within a two hour drive to Andorra, Spain and the Mediterranean. It is a place of natural beauty and tranquility with an abundance of forests, streams, lakes, clean air and water, with many walking trails nearby. Within the area are many small towns and quaint villages such as Alet-les-Bains where the famous medieval astrologist and prophet, Nostradamus lived in the 16th century; the mysterious village of Rennes-le-Chateau which is the site of the legends of the Holy Grail, the grotto of Mary Magdalene and the Da Vinci Code. Close by is the town of Rennes-les-Bains, famous for its hot springs and spas. Last but not least, there are the medieval Cathar castles of Aguilar, Peyrepertuse, Puilaurens, Queribus and Montségur less than an hour's drive away.
