Situated just outside the Historical Medieval town of Domfront, sits Le Bas Chesnay a pretty detached 200 year old farmhouse. The gite is set in almost 3 acres of very peaceful countryside surrounded by arable farmland. Although once here you feel you are in the middle of nowhere, we are in fact only 5 minutes drive from a supermarket and and 10 minutes’ drive from Domfront. The gite is full of character, with many exposed old beams and has been renovated to offer a very comfortable place to stay. Our location is an ideal base for tourists, active explorers, artisans and house buyers. It is a great base to explore all the region has to offer or just relax and unwind after a long day exploring or working.

We moved to France last year after retiring early. We have travelled to France on many occasions and finally chose Domfront as our home. Normandy has so much history, beautiful countryside, forests, beaches, lakes, and so much more to offer for every member of the family. We wake up every day and pinch ourselves because we know we are so lucky to live in this part of France and all that it has to offer We love the fact that the Gite is a restored farmhouse and we live in a converted animal barn. We also have near us: Veloscenic cycle route Paris to Mont – St – Michel from Domfront, you can join the cycle route to Mont-St-Michel. Lonlay -l’Abbaye a beautiful Abbaye. It is also famous for the Biscuiterie de l’Abbaye, lovely factory making scrumptious biscuits. Le Ferte Mace - Beautiful beach lake with a cafe and shops. Bagnoles De l'Orne - Largest spa town in western France. cafes and shops and also a Great place to people watch Haras National Du Pin - Louis XIV royal stud. Further a field we are lucky to have: Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel – Guaranteed to take your breath away as you approach this beautiful landmark. The D Day Landing Beaches. - A multitude of museums pay tribute to the soldiers who came ashore on D-Day. Bayeux Tapestry - Bayeux home of the tapestry and a charming medieval town.
