Suvantokoto is a traditional log cabin by the Kemijoki River, just 15 km from Rovaniemi city centre. It offers peace, nature, and privacy while keeping the city within easy reach. The cabin features a spacious living room with a fireplace, two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a private sauna, and an outdoor area facing the river. Every season has its own charm – in winter, the snowy silence and northern lights; in summer, the midnight sun and golden evenings; in autumn, the vibrant colours of “ruska”; and in spring, bright days on the snow. Indoors, you can enjoy the warmth of the fire, prepare meals in the kitchen, and relax in an authentic wood-heated sauna. From the yard, you can take in views of the wide-flowing Kemijoki River, and forest paths start almost at the doorstep. Morning coffee on the porch, an evening walk along the river, or stargazing – and perhaps catching the northern lights – all add to the experience..

This cabin was built by Miikka’s grandfather in 1972. We, Miikka & Sanna, take pride in maintaining it and sharing its unique atmosphere with guests. Over the years we’ve made improvements while keeping the original spirit intact. We speak Finnish and English and are happy to answer questions before and during your stay. We live nearby, so help is never far away if you need it – but once you settle in, Suvantokoto is yours to enjoy in complete privacy.

Suvantokoto is set in a peaceful riverside location. The setting combines the calm of the countryside with easy access to city services. The neighbourhood has only a few other cottages nearby, with forest trails starting almost at your doorstep. Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland, is just a 15–20 minute drive away with its museums, restaurants, and shops. In winter, the region offers husky and reindeer safaris, snowmobile tours, cross-country skiing, and northern lights excursions. The dark, clear skies by the river also give you a good chance to see the aurora from the cabin yard. In summer, the midnight sun provides endless daylight for hiking, cycling, and fishing. Autumn brings the colourful “ruska” season, and spring offers long days with excellent snow for outdoor activities. Rovaniemi Airport is about 25 minutes away, and the railway station about 20 minutes, making the cabin a perfect base for exploring Lapland while enjoying the comfort of a private riverside retreat.
