Our cabin can be your gateway to experience the wonders of this environment whatever the season. Enjoy your stay and you will want to return. The space Cosy log-cabin (kelomökki in Finnish), located in kelosyöte, Northern Finland, just south of Lapland, surrounded by forest. The cabin is our personal home away from home, and we want to share this experience with you. Having made some improvements for your comfort when staying, and more improvements being made so all you have to do is leave your stress and strains far away and to relax into forest life. I'm an ecologist, exploring Finnish nature and keen photographer. As you will find, Syöte is a place for this, with flying squirrels, bird life and insects to discover. We collect berries perfect for making cakes, jams and alcoholic liquors and mushrooms from the forest in late summer are preserved for the long winter, or used in Italian cooking - home-made ravioli - or fried in butter and had as breakfast with toast and red berries when we stay at the cabin.

Winter fun, ski to door cross-country ski track (lighted) is a few meters away from the cabin where you can also take your dog skiing, connecting to over 150km of maintained tracks. Kovilampi, the lake near the cabin can be ice-fished (own equipment is required). Snowboarding and downhill skiing can be done at Pikku-syöte (2.5km) & Iso-syöte (7.5km), though nothing as big as other resorts, offer an action packed area with everything from beginner to advanced level, snow park and off piste. Husky safari and fat-biking can be done as local business offer these experiences. Summer time fun, mountain biking (no mountains here) with plenty of easy to challenging routes through the forest. The lake is good for trout fishing (a permit to fish can be bought locally) or you could try fly fishing in a nearby river. Swimming in the lake with the midnight sun is something to experience, as the water can get to 25'C. There are many hiking trails that start from the cabin or you can drive to the national park information centre and explore the forest, but keep an eye out for flying squirrels, owls, elk and reindeer.
