I have a keen interest and a long work experience in languages, cultures, travelling and international cooperation. We lead a very active and outgoing lifestyle and are happy to help you plan all kinds of fun activities for your stay in Kotka!
We are hoping to receive many families travelling with children. Our children are under the age of five, so we have all the children's accessories you need during your stay - for example a highchair, stroller and a baby bed. Please email us in advance to make sure we have everything in place before you arrive.
We love animals and have cats who all live downstairs. Still they do occasionally sneak out to explore upstairs and for this reason we are sad to say that our guesthouse does not meet the standards of the most allergic guests.

Guesthouse Lokinlaulu ("Seagull's squawk") is a newly established homestay 15 km outside Kotka city centre (but only a few minutes' boat ride). This charming wooden villa was built in 1922 and was once the home of seven families. We bought the place in 2018 and started renovating the house from outside, restoring its original yellow colour.
We are still learning how to own and run a big old house with all its exciting features. We wish to respect and honor its history and character, meaning this accommodation is by no means new nor shiny. Those who enjoy all things old, picturesque and rustic will hopefully like it here!
We live downstairs and the guestrooms are upstairs with a separate entrance. There is a shared bathroom and a shared dining area, where you can find a microwave oven, an electric kettle, a coffee maker, a toaster, and of course a refrigerator. Coffee and tea are included in the room price.
You can also enjoy our big garden - bring a good book and sit back to enjoy the fresh sea air, seagulls' squawk and the sounds of motorboats on the sea! Summer 2019 is our first season as inn-keepers, and we warmly welcome you to be one of our very first guests!

Born & raised in Kotka, I know all the places worth going and seeing - be it a pub or a playground.
Our small fisherman's village Popinniemi is right next to Sunila, an area filled with houses and buildings designed by the world-renowned architect Alvar Aalto. This makes Guesthouse Lokinlaulu the perfect accommodation if you're coming to town with architectural interests!
I have also kayaked quite a bit and know my way around the surrounding breath-takingly beautiful archipelago. Kotka is a city by the sea, and there are numerous beaches and islands where you can enjoy the spectacular nature and fresh air. We'll tell you more. We are passionate about picking berries and mushroom, so if you're lucky, you might get a guided tour into a Finnish forest... Not to mention the endless fishing possibilities, including river Kymijoki. You can also rent a bike from us, we'll be happy to help you plan a nice scenic route.
