- We (Michael & Michelle Beckmann) acquired the listed half-timbered house in 2014 in a very run-down condition and restored it over many years with a lot of determination, patience and hard work. - Michelle is English, Michael is German, we've been together since over 25 years and share our lives between Monschau and East Sussex in England. - We had already restored the house next door, also operated two holiday apartments there and rented out a gallery. - We think that half-timbered houses are something very special, have a special charm and we do our very best to preserve these unique historical buildings for future generations. - We love to stroll in the beautiful nature around Monschau with our Cocker Bluebelle. - Further apartments on the ground floor as well as on the 1st and 2nd floor are currently still under construction.

Welcome to Monschau​ ​- The holiday home An der Rur is an ideal starting point to explore Monschau and the beautiful surrounding countryside. In less than 2 minutes from the house you are in the middle of the nature. - Hikes: There are many beautiful hiking opportunities in the immediate vicinity (also from the house). We can recommend hiking up- and down the river Rur, also in the lovely side valleys or to Gut Reichenstein. The High Venn is a nearby high moor and offers many opportunities to explore the nature, e.g. behind Monschau-Mϋtzenich or Monschau-Konzen or a little further away in Botrange in Belgium. - Bicycle tours: In Monschau and the surrounding area is a bicycle network with a junction point system - a map is available from MonTouristik. The Vennbahnradweg is a relatively flat former railway line that has been developed for cycling, on which you can cycle in the direction of Belgium or Aachen. - Some recreational opportunities in the area are for example: a visit to the Hellental game reserve with a bird of prey show, Vogelsang Castle with two interesting exhibitions, the Rur reservoir with boat trips, the Eifel National Park, the attractive City of Aachen, etc.
