Boca Tapada is a charming community located in the canton of San Carlos, in the province of Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Known for its cheerful and hospitable people, it offers visitors an authentic experience of rural Costa Rican life.
The region is surrounded by the Maquenque National Wildlife Refuge, which stretches from the Sarapiqui River in the south to the Nicaraguan border in the north. This vast protected area is a paradise for nature lovers, offering rainforests and impressive biodiversity.
Visitors can enjoy boat tours on the San Carlos River, which runs through the community and allows navigation on approximately 60 km of its course.
