The Watervale Hotel Guesthouse is a six bedroom house located next door to the multi-award winning Watervale Hotel Restaurant and Bar.
Two King-size bed rooms, one with en-suite, with king beds split-able into king singles. Four queen bed rooms. One additional shared bathroom and extra toilet. Lounge room to be fitted with sofa bed. This means the house can sleep up to 14 depending on couples / singles / child configuration. Large kitchen and dining room inside; BBQ and dining outside in a contained space safe for children, and suitable for dogs. Laundry with washer and drier.
The Watervale Hotel Restaurant has private dining spaces and large beer garden. It offers individually plated degustation dining, shared plate feasts for large groups and an a al cate menu. The beverage list promotes the virtues and diversity of Clare Valley wines. Dinners in the Hotel are strongly recommended to reduce risk of drink driving and eliminating the wasted cost of taxis.
Watervale is in the centre of the Clare Valley wine region, on the Riesling trail for cycling and walking, and well located for self drive excursions. We can recommend bike hire and tour guides.
Watervale is on route to the Flinders Ranges and Eyre Peninsula from Adelaide making it the perfect food and wine indulgent stop-over as part of a South Australian adventure holiday.

Nicola Palmer is the 2022 South Australian Chef of the Year, and the creative visionary behind the Watervale Hotel's renovation. Her husband Warrick Duthy acts as Sommelier and manages Front of House, faithfully assisted by Maître D'og Frankie Blue, a blue English Staffie who is a favourite amongst guests. Warrick loves promoting Clare Valley wines and runs a comprehensive wine masterclass that is the perfect way to start a Clare Valley holiday.
Nicola, Warrick and Frankie live at Penobscot Farm where they are regenerative organic farmers utilising permaculture design and bio-dynamic techniques. They are no waste ninja's looking to set standards for sustainability.
Most of the staff at the Watervale Hotel and affiliated Watervale General Store are international, hospitality professionals on working holiday visas. Most of the Chefs have come to Australia on a student visa and are now working through skills assessment on a pathway to permanent residency.
The greatest attraction of Watervale is the food and wine.
The Watervale Hotel has won 25 awards in just three years including 'Best Restaurant in a Hotel' in the world, as well as National awards for food, service, wine list and sustainable practices.
Watervale is the 'home of fine Riesling' in the centre of the Clare Valley wine region. There are dozens of winery cellar doors to visit, and many other wineries represented on the Watervale Hotel wine list without their own cellar door. Many wineries have their own restaurants, largely lunch-time only.
Watervale is located on the Riesling Trail cycling track between Clare and Auburn. It is also perfect for walks including the climb to the top of Mount Horrocks nearby.
