Artist Retreat- Rooms available Dangar Island, 2 minutes walk to the beach
To come to Shambhala House on Dangar Island is like stepping into an absolute movie set. Meet and stay with the Artist and her studio plus cavoodle J Barker and kitty Mia. The gardens are a tropical paradise with so much space to go and lose yourself. The cabana outside makes you feel like you are in Bali or some destination, a tropical paradise. So quiet and so peaceful. The name of the house Shabhala means place of tranquilty and peace and that is what it gives you an amazing space like no other. There are places created like rooms all over the property that give one solitude but on the flip side there are spaces ideal to share. Outside in the backyard there is a table for 8 on the deck that sits positioned in a space of beauty with a fountain and lush greenery around you. Out front downstairs a beautiful outlook with a flowering garden, then two balconies upstairs where you can lose yourself or find yourself bathing in the beauty of the island. River views abound from most aspects of the house.
There are so many quirky beautiful creative spaces to enjoy.
There is the bowling Club to go and have fun if you don't feel like cooking and the Cafe open everyday. 10 Minutes by ferry and you are on the mainland enjoying an abundance of restaurants and cafes that all have individual offerings. Then there are the Riverboat cruises that go daily so you can enjoy more of the Hawkesbury River.
Very relaxed environment where you can chill and forget about the stresses and day to day life expectancies. Get in touch with yourself and nature in the most beautiful setting with one of the best beaches on the central coast. I love opening my amazing garden, home and Studio for people to come and experience a setting that is like resort living.
Things to do:
Lunch at Lifeboat Brooklyn , they are BYO and huge servings so you could actually share a main. Kingtide Cafe also relaxed, limited menu but good food. Lifeboat is better even though it is not on the water. Need to book.
Other option is Mooney Mooney Club, a great way to do that is to drop your things and get a water taxi to Mooney and get them to pick you up a few hours later. That’ s a real fun experience. Right beside the Mooney Club is the Oyster Shed, so if you’ re into seafood especially prawns and oysters that’s the place. Fab on a sunny day and again you could get a water taxi there. Other option is to go back to Brooklyn and drive 10 mins there but if you want to have a drink probably a no go.
Patonga Hotel has great cocktails and food but only accessible by water taxi, a great experience.
There is no restaurants on the island open Monday or Tuesday however there is the Depot which is the cafe, general cafe and ok food and BYO. It is right at the jetty on Dangar and open 8am to 4pm.
The other go to is the Anglers Pub in Brooklyn, they have lifted their game on food, no water views but ok atmosphere and just basic pub grub.
That's pretty much it for those days. There are restaurants further away if you want to drive about 20 minutes so let me know if that’ s an option and I can help you with recommendations. Estuary Restaurant is just after the Brooklyn Bridge and amazing views from the point.
Send me a message if I can help you with anything else. Of course you can bring food and have here, I have a BBQ and you can pickup meat and seafood from Brooklyn at the Marina, which is also a bottle shop , just another option.
There is the cruise, daily, Riverboat Postman that leaves each day and is fab, you are given a Ploughman lunch and there's a bar onboard and it goes for about two to three hours around the river.
