Baku Beachouse is unique - absolute beachfront!
A 13500 square metre beachfront free hold surrounded by national parks.
The property is at Cape Kimberley, this is not in Cow Bay.
The house is situated on expansive gardens and lawn on the only beachfront property at Cape Kimberley. Bordered by 65,000 hectares of world heritage listed Daintree rainforest to the north, the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park to the East and the wet tropics lowlands forests to the south and west. A nature lovers paradise.
The lawns of the property are fringed by swaying coconut palms and coastal shrubs, giving you privacy from the beach, you will still enjoy water views from the bedrooms and living room and balcony.
Vehicles are not permitted on the lawns, stick to the gravel paths thanks.
A pool cabana is nestled amongst tropical fruit gardens where you can harvest in season fruit when available to accompany breakfast. The pool may not be usable at all times depending on climatic conditions.
The property is “off grid”, producing much of its own power through a mix of solar and conventional generation. Guests are requested to be mindful of power consumption, only use high power consumers like the dishwasher or air conditioning during sunny days when the sun is out and shining well. Rain is harvested and stored in tanks, soft, cool and very drinkable, a finite resource that shouldn’t be wasted please.
The house is a renovated classic North Queensland Beachouse, low set and unobtrusive with an ample deck for barbecuing and appero’s with glimpses of the beach and sea.
This is a family holiday home, we leave some stock in the cupboards and freezer. Please respect this and replace anything that you have consumed.
Relax, unwind and be yourselves, you deserve it.
A caretaker may be on site in the separate caretakers bungalow. They will not disturb your privacy.
The property has a remote alarm security monitoring system, you will be able to activate or deactivate to your request.
I am a keen nature observer with a love of the wild and adventure.
I purchased this property with my parents over 20 years ago, together we ran the bungalow as guest accommodation for many years.
We hope you enjoy and respect the property as much as we do.
Baku (Kuku Yalanji for Cape Kimberley) is the northern end of the beach that runs north from the Daintree river mouth. This is a special place, Nature’s energy is literally vibrating out of the earth, water and trees here. The beach is approximately 4km long from the river mouth, the fishing can be nothing short of spectacular, if that’s your thing.
Please note that vehicles are not permitted on the beach for any purpose other than the launching and retrieval of boats. Do not drive your car onto the beach.
If you intend launching a boat, please advise me at time of booking and we can discuss suitability.
This is a real break from the hum of society, it’s an hours drive back to town and the supermarket. The hamlet of Cow Bay is 20 minutes drive north and Cape Tribulation another 35 minutes north of that. There are some convenience stores between Baku and Cape Tribulation.
We are regularly visited by cassowaries, tree kangaroos, bandicoots and other wild life that are drawn to the tropical fruit trees on the grounds.
We hope you enjoy your stay.
