The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave me directions for sightseeing around town. The self check-in was also very straightforward. Would gladly stay again, Hyuga City was an underrated gem!

Also, it was really close to the beach (5 min by bike) and you could rent surfboards and the bikes were free to use. Would highly recommend to stay here if you're in Aoshima!

Highly recommend to anyone staying in the area. We were bike touring and they had a large indoor area where we could safely store our bikes overnight. Restaurants within walking distance. Thank you for having us!

Taketa Ekimae Hostel cue has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and bar in Taketa. The property is situated 46 km from Crasus Dome Oita, 45 km from Oita Station and 48 km from Mount Aso. The accommodation features a shared kitchen, a concierge service and luggage storage for guests. Great location next to the train station and close to local onsen. You can receive discounted price at reception if you are interested. Breakfast was simple but fresh and very tasty. Hostel is very pretty, traditional, wooden house and has great atmosphere. 2 common spaces could be used for relaxing. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Castle ruins are close, around 20-30 minutes by walk, highly recommended to visit. There is also tourist Kyushu OLLE: Okubungo trail between train stations Bungo Taketa and Asaji. We didn't have time to visit, but looked interesting.
