Our host was very nice and helpful. He arranged the rental of bicycles to visit the temple, he gave us information to take the bus and good advice to find local restaurants. The location is very convenient, close to shops, restaurants and now far from the temples. The room was very clean and quiet. We thank you for the very nice stay :)

This place deserves more than 5 stars. The location is THE BEST you could ever imagine. Right at the edge of a national park with view onto a lake you see lots of macaques and langurs, birds, mongooses and with a bit of luck elephants roaming around, sometimes they come very close and are just 2 few meters away. No worries there is security fence as you know it from national park areas inbetween. The cabins, very exclusively as there are only 2 available, are perfectly equipped, spotless clean, airtight - so no bugs will bother you as long as you exercise common sense to keep doors closed and come with very good working air-conditioning. You have a nice cozy seating area/porch attached to watch the animals while you are enjoying meals or ice-cold drinks. Bringing your binoculars to view animals further away is recommended. Sanka is THE BEST host you could ever imagine, very warm welcoming and always smiling, and very attentive. He is always available, happy to serve you his delicious food and ice-cold drinks to your room, everything for very reasonable prices. He helps to arrange safaris for you, provides amazing advise on sightseeing, loves to exchange experiences with his guests. He is such a lovely person, himself still very excited about the wildlife, it was hard to leave this place. Ensure to reserve ahead as this place has only 2 cabins and is of course very popular. The rooms are spotless, and the facilities are excellent for the price. It's also conveniently located close to Parakrama Samudra (just 1.8 km away). I truly enjoyed my freedom here, and this stay has become one of the most unforgettable journeys I've had. If you're looking for a budget-friendly place that is clean, calm, and comfortable, there's simply no better choice than this!

Staying at Aruna Home Stay in Polonnaruwa was by far the best experience I had with local people during my trip in Sri Lanka. Mom and daughter were incredibly kind, always smiling, and genuinely helpful, making me feel like part of their family from the very first moment. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable, with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. What really made the difference was the warm hospitality: sharing meals, stories, and local advice gave me the chance to experience authentic Sri Lankan culture in a way that no hotel could offer. The location is also great, close to the ancient city and easy to reach by bike or tuk-tuk. Breakfast and dinner prepared at the homestay were delicious, with fresh and traditional dishes full of flavor. Kody the Host is very friendly and helpful. He and his wife make excellent breakfast and delicious rice and curry (never had such a good curry). Kody is also a tour guide and can give advice where to go in Sri Lanka. The accommodation is spacious and clean.

I can't recommend Villa Ravichini Homestay enough! The place is fantastic. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom nice with good water pressure, and the breakfast was delicious. But what truly sets this homestay apart is Ravi. He's the heart and soul of the place — so patient, kind, and helpful. Despite the heavy rain on my arrival, he suggested a safari to the Eco Park nearby, where we saw many elephants and plenty of birds. Shiran, our driver, was great too — knowledgeable and respectful of animals and of nature! Ravi also made amazing tea, rented me a bike, and even took me to the Shivaratri Festival at the ancient temples. If you're in Polonnaruwa, stay at Villa Ravichini.
