The absolute highlight of our stay was Guest House Chara, run by the kindest elderly couple, Fusao and Toshiko. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home—it wasn’t just a place to sleep, it truly felt like staying with family. Their house told a story, filled with warmth, history, and the little personal touches that made it feel lived-in and loved. From the amazing homemade breakfast to the delicious ramen dinners they prepared, every meal was made with care and love. The guest house is conveniently located, just a short walk from a supermarket and a laundromat, which made things really easy for us. This personal, welcoming experience truly made our trip special. Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse terletak di Matsushima, 23km dari Sendai City Community Support Center dan 5-minit berjalan kaki dari Entsuin Temple. Great guesthouse, highly recommend it. The owner is super nice and very helpful ! Also the guesthouse is perfectly located, it is 2 to 5 minutes walk to all major spots to visit in Matsushima.

The exceptional thing about this hostel is how the staff actively made an effort into welcoming travellers, Japanese and international into a temporary family. They helped with starting conversation and organizing dinner for staff and guests, and it just works. 11/10 staff experience for me. The atmosphere is great because of it too. Other than that it is just a nice little guest house with a couple of rooms, better showers than usual and everything I needed for my stay.
