It was very easy to get to by car, and I was the only guest in the entire house. The owners are so nice, and always willing to chat with you. They don't know much English so it is better if you know Japanese. However, your stay will still be a very comfortable one as they go above and beyond to meet all your expectations.

The Sunday dinner and Monday morning walk were both among some of my favorite highlights of my trip to Japan so far.

We spent three wonderful days in Hirosaki, a charming and authentic town that still feels untouched by mass tourism. It was refreshing to explore a place where the pace is slower and the culture feels so genuine. The absolute highlight of our stay was Guest House Chara, run by the kindest elderly couple, Fusao and Toshiko. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home—it wasn’t just a place to sleep, it truly felt like staying with family. Their house told a story, filled with warmth, history, and the little personal touches that made it feel lived-in and loved. From the amazing homemade breakfast to the delicious ramen dinners they prepared, every meal was made with care and love. The guest house is conveniently located, just a short walk from a supermarket and a laundromat, which made things really easy for us. This personal, welcoming experience truly made our trip special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful, off-the-beaten-path experience in Japan. ありがとうございます

Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse terletak di Matsushima, 23km dari Sendai City Community Support Center dan 5-minit berjalan kaki dari Entsuin Temple. Great hostel. The owner is realy nice and gives alot of tips on what to do and see in the area. The location is amazing. Walking distance from everthing you wanna see in town. It realy clean.

Terletak 8-minit berjalan kaki dari Zao Hotsprings Ski Resort, Petit Resort Hotel Der Barte menawarkan penginapan 3-bintang di Zao Onsen dan mempunyai taman, restoran dan bar. Fantastic location, right on Uwanodai slope - actual ski-in ski-out. Host was extremely friendly and helpful, the food in the restaurant was great and good value. Nice draught beer! Shower in room with a shared hot bath that could be booked for free. There's a ski/boot room in the basement that opens onto the slope. The decor is a bit dated but in a very charming way.

This place was a true sanctuary during my two-month journey. I originally planned to stay just a short while, but it felt so peaceful and welcoming that I ended up extending my stay. There was so much to explore in the area. I discovered the three sacred mountains of Haguro, Gassan, and Yudono, part of the Dewa Sanzan, and I wanted to experience them all. The traditional accommodation was simple, beautiful, and full of charm .Bus stop and great food spot just across the street. I truly didn’t want to leave. What made it even more special were the two amazing women who run the place with such kindness and care. I felt at home from the moment I arrived. I will never forget my time here.
