This was my favorite stay during my trip! Surrounded by the countryside, this 280 years old house has all the charms of its age, but still reasonably modern amenities. The staff is especially friendly, helpful, and welcoming. And you can get amazing home-cooked meals too! If you want to go out of the beaten path and explore the rural side of Japan, this is absolutely the best place!

The hosts were very friendly and welcoming - there was also a breakfast included (which I didn't remember getting). The house was full of history and souvenirs which I'm sure the hosts are more than happy to talk to you about. There is also "sake nights" where the hosts offered us a chance to try different sakes. There is only one shower in the facility, so there is a booking system to reserve your shower slot.

Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse terletak di Matsushima, 23km dari Sendai City Community Support Center dan 5-minit berjalan kaki dari Entsuin Temple. The guesthouse owner was very friendly, spoke great English. We had quite a few conversations, and he gave me some insights into Matsushima and Japan, as well as sightseeing/food/onsen recommendations at Matsushima. The guest house is exceptionally clean and well maintained, like a newly renovated premise. The room is equipped with air conditioning and comes with a key for you to lock the door. The location is very well located, just a 75m walk from the busy street, which makes it a clean and quiet place to stay, while having walking access to the different attractions of Matsushima.

Hosts extremely helpful and friendly. Could not do enough to make our stay wonderful. Arrangement of last minute taxis to get us up and off the mountains at either end of Dewa Sanzan was done extremely quickly and well. Food amazing. A truly fantastic and memorable experience.
