This was such a cool experience. The building is very nice. All the beautiful wood and features. Taking your shoes off at entree, sliding doors, gymnasium, kitchen. Amazing. Even more amazing was the staff. The explained every thing well, gave recommendations for food and travel. I even got lucky and hitched a ride back to Nakatsugawa, with a perfect pitstop at Hillbilly Coffee (highly recommend). I stayed here after walking Nakasendo Trail from Tsumago. Perfect place to stay after. Do not hesitate. Go here. Book!

Bus stop is not so far away if you don't want to take advantage of Mama-Sans generosity and kindness, the city-center is a ~ 25 mins ride away.

It was truly a pleasure to stay in this 110 year old traditional Japanese house. There were no other guests at the time and we had the whole house to ourselves. The house is tastefully furnished and there is even a new trail bicycle available for guests. The host was extremely helpful and friendly. He offered to make reservations for us at a local restaurant and even drove us (at a time that best suited us) to the trailhead for our hike at Magome.

I have stayed at 5 stars hotels for this trip and this humble abode can rival them. The bathtub is well equipped with spa facilities. The kitchen is well-stocked with condiments from olive oil to soy sauce for real cooking. My family purchased quality beef from the nearby supermarkets and cooked our own wagyu. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who wishes to stay in the outskirts of nagoya.

We loved the quiet seclusion but also close proximity to Magome, walkable. We stayed in the Sakura room and it was spacious and comfortable. The exquisite Japanese traditional meals were delicious and filling - even my sons loved them. The host is so kind and shared many things with us. Overall, we had a lovely stay and wish we could stay longer!
