What really stands out, is the 5-star service by the receptionists. Actually even better than 5 stars, as there's none of the condescending glances one might get at 5-star hotels. :-D I'm especially grateful for the extra help I got from the bilingual Japanese receptionist. Despite hostel-style accommodation, I slept very well and found the bed to be comfy. The place is easy to reach on foot from Magome-juku bus stop, even with a large suitcase, as there's a pavement all the way.

Clean stay with the friendliest host. We enjoyed the onsen with wonderful mountain and sea views as well as an ice cream gift after bathing! The host allowed us to drop off our luggae early which freed us to stroll around the temple nearby and the rest of Atami, all of the host’s recommendations! My friends and I used the common area often as it was filled with natural light and windows across the entire span of the room. The sunrise and sunset were beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay!

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. Staff were great and friendly! They run a small cafe too so can get some decent coffee anytime. The lounge was ghibli themed and cosy with lots of suggestions for food and activities! Dorm room was as expected, lots of room for luggage.

Preis-Leistung ist absolut top – super günstiger Aufenthalt mit allem, was man braucht. Die Unterkunft war sauber, gemütlich und gut ausgestattet. Besonders beeindruckend: Nachts konnten wir vom Haus aus den beleuchteten Fuji mit den Wanderern auf dem Weg zum Gipfel sehen – ein unvergesslicher Anblick! Der Service war ebenfalls hervorragend: Es gab kostenlos Zahnbürsten, eine Waschmaschine, Trockner, gutes WLAN und alles war sehr unkompliziert. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Klare Empfehlung! ***** We had a fantastic stay at Guest House Seidou in Fujiyoshida! The value for money is amazing – very affordable with everything you need. The place was clean, cozy, and well equipped. A special highlight: At night, we could see the lights of hikers climbing Mt. Fuji – absolutely magical! The service was excellent as well: free toothbrushes, washing machine and dryer, fast Wi-Fi – everything was smooth and comfortable. We felt completely at home and would definitely come back. Exceptionally helpful staff! Even though it's a bit of a walk to the main gondola, the staff provided us with a ride every morning. Coming back home for the day it's only a few minutes from the slopes. Would certainly stay here again.
