A very warm and friendly welcome from Monica & Mauro and their three adorable Jack Russells. Monica was very patient with us to explain everything and answer any of our questions. Lovely clean house with lots of character, very comfortable bedroom with fridge, kettle and ensuite toilet/shower. We used the provided bicycles to explore parts of the wetland areas a few kms away to birdwatch. Two very good supermarkets and restaurants within 15 minutes walk. A 5 minute bus ride to Sabbioni and from there we made regular trips to explore the lagoon islands and Venice.

Antica Dogana is set right in front of the lagoon of Venice, only 40 minutes by boat from the historic centre, offering stunning views of the sunset and the Venetian islands. The location of the property is perfect. The Hotel/restaurant sit on a lagoon with mirror like water. The sound of the water was very soothing. The view was captivating. we could not get enough of it. Sunsets and sun risings were ever changing and so beautiful, making our breakfast a very relaxing, enjoyable experience. Morning breakfast was delicious with many varieties of food making it a very balance and healthy meal. In addition, having the Marina & ferry next to our hotel made it easier for us to visit the main Venise Island. I would advise to purchase a daily pass. You will have the choice of two boat company with $7 dollars different ($18; $25). Some of the boat line run until 3 Am from Venise to Treporti. For those without rental car, you can come to Venise by train or plan and then use bicycles, or Taxi boat to move through Venise main island or the surrounding ones.
