We participated in the morning ritual of Shingon Buddhism at the temple. The service is basically in Japanese but I'm sure it will be an unforgettable experience even if you don't understand the language. They kindly explained the essence of Shingon teaching and how this temple stay was established. After the ritual, we had Buddhist breakfast together. It is located in a small community with a view of rice fields and green mountains. If you wish to stay in a unique quiet place in Sado and to get in touch with the local people, this is the perfect place to stay.

I really loved the comfy beds, the music selection and location was incredible. It is just 20 minutes from Sado Gold Mine and Sado popular bays. This is 100% the most memorable accommodation I’ve stayed at in Japan so far, out of two trips. The host is kind, the food is incredibly good and generous portions. Great ryokan experience. ❤️ The bathrooms and bath (onsen-style) are shared, but were always well cleaned. It’s a small ryokan, so there isn’t a lot of foot traffic in these areas anyway. The bath was very relaxing. Most rooms are traditional tatami. There is parking in front of the building if you rent a car visiting Sado Island (which I heavily recommend). I would want to come back to Nanauraso when I come back to Sado.
