The Ancient Briton was one of the best B&Bs we stayed at during our 2.5-week trip through the UK. The staff, rooms, food, and overall atmosphere exceeded our expectations. The building is old but tastefully refurbished. While some stairways are narrow and dim (a bit of a challenge with luggage), the rooms were comfortable, well-equipped, and even featured unique plaster ceiling designs that gave them real character. The staff was outstanding. The woman who managed breakfast each morning (I wish I remembered her name) was especially wonderful—warm, attentive, and full of local tips. Thanks to her, we discovered the Red Kite Feeding Station in Llanddeusant, which turned out to be a highlight of our trip. The pub downstairs is lively and welcoming, with excellent food and a friendly mix of locals. It does get busy in the evenings, but even as a party of six, we were always accommodated.

Fantastic location with an amazing view of the lake. The room had character but was tastefully decorated. The entrance and staircase is incredible! Breakfast was top notch. It was a great stay.

The location is perfect for exploring Wales, and Christine can assist you with planning an itinerary for that as well!

Comfortable, well appointed room. Good breakfast and great value. Spacious car park. Limited menu for evening meal but only a guide as our hosts were happy to accommodate requests. Guest ale and good wine were a great bonus.

In the centre of Builth Wells, Bronwye Guest House is a 4-star rated bed and breakfast on the route of the Wye Valley Walk. Homemade yogurt was exquisite and the full English was really good too
