Pension Ciudadela guest house is opposite Barcelona’s França Train Station and 100 metres from Ciudadela Park. It offers basic air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi, and private bathroom facilities. The location is perfect. Short walks to all the main sights. Friendly staff and a very comfortable, clean room. An added bonus was the rooftop terrace! Just step out the door and a ride to the top in the elevator gives you an oasis amid plants and views of the city. Lots of chairs and lounges. We would rest up there for a couple hours at the end of the day before heading out for dinner.

Hostal Goya has an ideal setting, 5 minutes’ walk from Plaza de Catalunya and Las Ramblas. It features stylish rooms and apartments with free Wi-Fi access. it was as central as it could get. Just by Placa Catalunya but still a street behind it so one does not hear the trafic as much. The building and the staircase seemed old at first site but once getting inside the hostel it is renovated and the actual rooms and inside it was very fresh, clean and really nice. You get a muffin and a coffee,/tea which is nice. It had a nice seating area where one can have breakfast. Not an actual kitchen but still enough for a few days. It was clean and even had a small balcony if you are a smoker. The staff is so kind and friendly and we only stayed one night but we could have stayed longer. Nice place for couples or friends who are there a few days.

Everything newly done & sparkling clean, and cost me only €50 at the height of tourist season. Would go back.
