After 2 weeks exploring Sri Lanka this stay stood out from all others. First, I can’t imagine a better location to the two key sites, the most famous being Lions Rock. When we arrived we immediately felt cared for, safe and comfortable. The grounds are an oasis of tropical plants and the pool was a welcome respite from the heat. Our beds were just the right firmness and the rooms were very specious and clean. The staff is very responsive and helped us in numerous way have a great visit to the Sigiriya surroundings. I learned from a driver how the owner cares for his team, helping them financially when times were bad during COVID and other problems in the country. Absolutely stellar experience.

Offering a barbecue and sun terrace, Sigiriya Water Cottage is set in Sigiriya, 3.4 km from Sigiriya Rock. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. One of the most beautiful places we have been at. Super nice people, beautiful houses, great food. Breakfast menu changing every day. Dinners just over the top. Very clean pool. And you can sit quite and observe nature ❤️

I cannot rate our stay here highly enough and dont really know where to start. We were so glad we had three nights here and could have stayed longer. Dinusha and his staff were the absolute best. We had so many laughs with them. We got taken to the Dambulla caves and the vegetable and spice markets which was a fantastic day. There is a perfect view of Lion Rock from the balcony. The dinner we had there was delicious but there are also lots of good options a 10 minute walk away down from the side road where Lion See is. The beers were a good price and cold, the pool was immaculate and the rooms were big and clean. I honestly can't find any faults with this place and we were sad to leave. Beautiful spot nestled in the beautiful nature with direct views of both Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala Rock. Comfortable, clean and modern. Walking distance to Sigiriya Rock which was also huge bonus. Delicious meals prepared by Suman and his family. Suman went above and beyond to help us with our stay, we couldn’t recommend him enough!

Our stay at this wonderful hotel was truly unique. From the moment we were welcomed with a warm, traditional greeting, we knew this place was special. The design is absolutely stunning, with meticulous attention to detail. The hotel is immaculately maintained—a magical natural gem. The entire staff is kind and pleasant, and the service is incredibly efficient. The breakfast was diverse and delicious. There are plenty of options to spend extended time on-site, whether you want to enjoy the tranquility of nature or use the facilities like the gym, pool, or snooker table. We only wish we could have stayed more nights

Dew ashi is a very authentic homestay which we totally loved. It is a bit out of town in a rural area, but this was not a problem as Chaaru the owner will transport you into town or sites (for a small fee) such as pidurangula or Sigirya rock if you need- he is readily contactable through WhatsApp. The room and bathroom are clean with mosquito nets on each bed. Tharu and Chaaru with their 2 young daughters made our experience extremely positive and memorable. They were warm and welcoming. We were there over the New Year celebrations which added extra cultural experiences including a traditional celebratory buffet breakfast. They provide filtered water to refill, and large delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. We also loved having a jug in our room to make tea and coffee. When we went on safari they made toasted sandwiches to take for lunch and soursop juice as a pre safari treat. Yum!! Chaaru arranged a brilliant elephant safari with his brother Patum in Hurulu eco park. This was recommended due to the recent heavy rain with elephants moving from Mineriya to this park. We were treated to many elephant sightings very close to our jeep. He seemed to know exactly where to find them. The pool was beautiful, clean with seats poolside. Tharu ran an amazing and informative cooking class and garden tour. We made using traditional techniques 6 different curries, coconut roti and coconut sambal and we feasted on this at the end. We could not recommend Dew Ashi more highly.
