Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor. Beautiful traditional style Japanese rooms and the whole building was gorgeous. Great location, friendly staff. Delicious dinner and breakfast, so glad we opted for the meal plan at Magome Chaya- was worth it.

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. Everything was fantastic. Stuff didn't speak much english but we could communicate really well. Everything was written and easy to understand. The atmosphere was wonderful. It's a traditional building with a bit old equipment but very well kept. It just added to the experience. Location was really close to everything.We would spend more nights here if we knew what great experience we will get.

Awarded in 2014 with TripAdivsor’s Certificate of Excellence, Takayama Ouan features traditional Japanese designs and tatami (woven-straw) flooring throughout. One of our favourite places to stay at! We loved how simple the room was and the bed was such a dream to sleep on. It was an easy walk to many great food places nearby and everyone was very nice. The private onsen and free ramen at night was the highlight of it all. Will definitely come back again!
