Rooms are spacious and modern. Location is very central. Walking distance to the old town and good connection to other parts of the city.

The Hotel Alexander is located right at the Messe Basel fairgrounds and the Congress Centre, a 7-minute ride from the centre of Basel. The tram stop is right outside. Free Wi-Fi is available. Staff was friendly, room was clean, breakfast was fine :)

On the top of that, we had an amazing breakfast with garden view. They offered fresh orange juice, a wide range of pastries, cheese, salmon, fruits, etc.

Like probably most people, I came there mainly cause of the price and this was my first stay at a hostel. I didn't expect much yet when I arrived I got much more than (I thought) I paid for. Destination is great, right next to both a tram and bus stop. Rooms had many beds but never felt crowded. We all got lockers for our stuff. Whole hostel was clean and had a cool urban vibe. Apart from the showers, there was also a community stove, washer/dryer, iron and ironing board... everything you would need. Staff was super friendly. Everyone could take free coffee or tea at the lobby and the buffet breakfast was only 8CHF per day, which is cheap for Swiss standards. And on top of all that, everyone gets the Basel Card which gives a bunch of amenities in the city. Oh and also, the receptionist, on the day I was leaving, had a cool hat.
