We use Malelane as our last stop into Kruger. Being 7 hours away not only is it a good resting stop after a long drive but also the opportunity to stock up on Supplies. The room we were initially offered was not fit for habitation. Our next room on first impression seemed better but we found it had mouldy shower recess, no hot water, broken blinds and window coverings, no phone , a non functioning power point so no hair dryer and chipped outdoor furniture.. We did not get what we paid for and when bought to management’s attention all we got were excuses. The place is in a very quiet location overlooking the crocodile river which I enjoyed the most. The food was nice too, with friendly staff/guest house workers always going the extra mile just to make our stay comfortable. We were upgraded to the suite which had 2 bedrooms. The staff were so accommodating and friendly, helping us get pool towels (even though it wasn't hot enough for the pool). The restaurant was absolutely superb, and they gave us free shots as the train went past. Huge servings of meals and very good value. Way out of the accommodation brought you out past Shell service station which was perfect timing and very handy for top ups on the way to Kruger. Really good value for money. The view from our room and then from the deck was absolutely breathtaking. So peaceful to relax and just sit and watch animals on the river banks. We've seen rhino's, water buck, hippo's, and other wild animals on both sides and in the river. What a splendid place to start an/or end your day. The rooms are spacious, and modern, with all facilities you need. The Riverview Inn is located only 10 minutes drive from Malelane Gate to visit Kruger Park.
