Townsend was great!
Townsend was great! Better than all the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg and Sieverville. I recommend the Abbey restaurant which is right on the Little River. I really liked the walking and biking trail around town. It was easy to get to the Smokies from this location. Townsend is a great place to stay if you are averse to the craziness of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We visited the Smoky Mountain Heritage Center, which was very well done. We hiked the Cades Cove Loop Road, which unfortunately was not closed to traffic on Wednesdays in May, as it has been in past years. Townsend is a small town and is a nice place to stay if you don't want to deal with a lot of traffic, the down side is that eating options are somewhat limited. I have been to Townsend many times.
I have been to Townsend many times. It is a quick trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area to enjoy all the activities there from Townsend. Townsend is a slower pace and much less traffic. Close to Cades Cove my favorite part of Smoky Mountain National Park.Guest review byAnonymous
