Borrego Springs is a small town.
Borrego Springs is a small town. You come here for the desert, the wild flowers, the night sky. Entertainment is mostly live music at a few restaurants/pubs. There are a couple gas stations and a few grocery stores. Of course, you have to see the Galleta Sculptures in the surrounding desert. They are a bit spread out, so if you aren't into hiking in desert heat, it's best to drive. It does involve some "off-road" driving. But a typical car is fine to use. Just beware of bumps & ruts. it tidy and clean, quite property, no commercial feeling in the area. you can enjoy the stay with your family or love one especially at the milky sky. I love it more than 29 palms as not more commercial activities but certainly, there are restaurant and shops. the down side is it really hot! I came for the sculptures, to take photos. I was very surprised at how good the small local eateries were. The small mexican resturant in the back of the mall was as good as any I have been to and Carlees Club sandwich was fantastic. I was there one day and could have spent 2-3 days, but not much longer. March Equinox time of year. Wildflowers beautiful, weather pleasant. The views of the mountains were gorgeous and the night sky spectacular. The sculptures scattered about are a definite must see. Borrego Springs is a small town with great night views of the sky and day views of the mountains and desert and, during the season, wild flowers. In season can be very crowded. While there are a number of accommodations, it has avoided the "wall of hotels" that tend to spring up in tourist areas. It's also fairly close to Julian, Lake Cuyamaca and Laguna Mountain, taking well-maintained mountain/country roads. It can get very hot during the day from March through October. The night sky is amazing and you can even see the edge of the Milky Way when it's clear - and it usually is at night.Guest review byElbeauUnited States

The house is beautiful so that we immediately felt at home and didn't miss anything. Ranchita is located well above Borrego Springs, about 25 minutes away, making it much more pleasant in terms of temperature. Eagle Rock, in the other direction, can also be reached in the same amount of time. Roberta always responded super quickly to all messages and provided us with all important informations in advance! The location close to Borrego Springs is great. The hotel is very clean and well maintained and the grounds are really nice too. There are two large swimming pools to choose from and a large spa pool too. The Arches restaurant is good too. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially Noe in the Arches who deserved a medal for singlehandedly working the bar and serving meals to our party of 14 bikers !.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom
