FAQs about hotels in Taipei

The Undiscovered Asian Capital

Capital of the Republic of China (commonly known as Taiwan), huge Taipei is surrounded by mountains. Taipei 101, once the world’s tallest building, dominates its skyline from Xinyi, an area known for the most active nightlife.

At Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall the national flag is raised every morning and the guard changed every hour. Less known for tourists is National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, containing a tall bronze statue of the country’s founding father.

Of the wealth of Taipei museums, the best are Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines and the National Palace Museum – one of world’s largest collections of Chinese artifacts. Even more numerous are the temples dedicated to Buddhist, Taoist and Chinese folk religions. Xinsheng South Road is nicknamed ‘Road to Heaven’ for its sheer number, but most famous is Longshan Temple in Wanhua, the oldest district.

Taipei shopping is fantastic and includes Core Pacific Living Mall, supposedly Asia’s largest. The Ximending area has lots of shops (and karaoke), while the Shilin Night Market should not be missed. For a break from the bustle head to central Daan Forest Park, the botanical gardens with its lotus ponds,or Yangmingshan National Park, known for hot spring baths and spring cherry blossom.

Whether you fly into Songshan or Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, efficient public transport takes you to the Taipei hotels on Booking.com.

It was a nice stop for our trip.

It was a nice stop for our trip. Nice city with large avenues and plenty of restaurants, I would've stayed and extra day or couple of days. There were options for day trips nearby that we didn't have time for. It was not difficult to navigate.

    Many kind and friendly people.

Many kind and friendly people. Amazing night markets and 7-11s at almost every corner, which is super convenient. Great metro services, though it can be busy between 5-6 p.m. I would definitely return for future travels.

    Taiwan is boring really.

Taiwan is boring really. The Hotel I stayed in made me dislike the country actually. No help at all re services. Give Taiwan a miss, Maybe when China takes over they will understand service and that the west is full of liars and bullshit artists.

Taipei is a great place to visit with great foods,...

Taipei is a great place to visit with great foods, convenient transportation to everywhere, people are so polite and so nice too. 101 Building, Taipei Train Station, Ximending and Shilin Night Market, Rao He and Keelung Night Markets brought back all the great memories of Taiwanese foods/snacks, miniature museum, Addiction Aquatic Development (Fresh Fish Market where you can have the most Fresh fish or sashmi picked and prepared on the spot for you). Fishing Shrimp House was so fun and Taxi driver took us to a place and we spent about 2-3 hrs there, fishing in door and the owner grilled and gave us almost extra Shrimps for us to enjoy right there too!:-) Great experience!!!

I think the mix of traditional and tropical feel in Taipei was really interesting to see. There was a large range of places to explore - from artist villages to nightlife. Getting around was easy with public transport. Overall a fun place to stay.

    I love Taipei!!!

I love Taipei!!! How organized and easy their transportation system from the airport to the city and going around. But more than anything, I love their night markets. If only I could try and eat everything. Their milk teas, they are all yummy regardless of where you buy it from. So many places to visit. I definitely will come back here.
