    Beach at Esposende too difficult to swim in due to pepples. Other beaches at Ofir and Apulia excellent. Limited supply of restaurants and limitless supply of banks!!! Surprised by the obvious wealth amongst the Portuguese people with holiday homes here. Very few estrangers. Not for sailors. Good for families. Some surprising sculptures dotted around the esplanade from 1997 one in particular near the San Lorenca fort at Esponsende.

    A very lovely little town, with lots of nice cafes and...

    A very lovely little town, with lots of nice cafes and restuarants to choose from. Especially liked the italian pizzeria in the town square, food was delicious. There were also some nice shops. A museum in the town, and a craft market every 3rd Sunday in the month. A lovely promenade with a children's play park on the front.

    We did not actually go to Esposende.

    We did not actually go to Esposende. As booking.com should be perfectly well aware, our hotel is situated in Ofir which is probably about 5 km away. The nearest town is Fão in respect of which please see comments elsewhere.In any event I have been to Esposende before and it is pleasant enough but not the centre of the universe

    All the good restaurants are outside Esponsende - mainly in Apulia. A nice little hike or short taxi ride. Bridge to Fao needs some TLC, at least if you walk over it. Fantastic views, but the rusty bits on the footpath high above the water are somewhat anxiety-inducing (and I even heard that from experienced Camino walkers ...) Would not walk over a second time ...

    Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have...

    Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have had on this trip for the Camino de Santiago. The people that run the hotel are wonderful and very friendly. Everything is very clean and they have a great lounge with a good kitchen to make what you want. I would recommend them and their rooms to anyone going to that area.

    We thought everybody had left town.

    We thought everybody had left town. The whole place was strangely quiet and deserted. We struggled to find an open place to eat. It was early September. A lot of derelict buildings. Just about good enough for a one night Camino stopover.

    This hostel is located in Fão right before entering Esposende. The host was very nice and professional. There is a small kitchen, with all the essentials you need to cook a decent meal. Unfortunately, there is only a mini market in town, where you won't get a lot of variations or food options. The bed was very comfortable but could use a curtain for privacy. There are extra cupboards to put your luggage, which was very useful.

    Huge room, great for winding down after a day on the Camino. The hotel is right off the trail, so easy to get there. Receptionist gave a lot of useful recommendations. We did not have time to check out the pool, but it looked great. The tapas bar was enough for wine & dinner, definitely recommend.

    This place was a real surprise. It was comfortable, clean and quiet despite being on a main road. There wasn't a restaurant nearby but the hotel provided a small dinner menu. We loved our lasagne. The room was clean. Shower fantastic. Staff very helpful.

    Perfect relaxing part of Esposende, the room was spacious and immaculate. The host was very friendly and provided a super breakfast. Short walk to the river and restaurants and a perfect stop over for the Camino.
